Daily’s Premium Meats plans to construct a new processing plant in St. Joseph, Missouri. The $41.5 million plant will focus on producing sliced-to-order naturally hardwood smoked bacon and employ about 200 people.
Work on the facility is expected to begin this summer, with operations starting May 2016.
Daily’s, owned by Seaboard Foods and Triumph Foods, will build the plant across the road from Triumph Foods’ fresh pork processing plant in St. Joseph.
“Since 1893, Daily’s has stood for the highest quality in premium meats, especially hardwood smoked bacon, and we’re proud to carry on that tradition with this new plant,” said Kelly Hattan, Daily’s Premium Meats president. “As part of an integrated food system, we look forward to the opportunities the new plant will offer our customers, as well as being part of the St. Joseph community.”
Daily’s was founded in 1893 by John R. Daily in Missoula, Montana. The company currently operates bacon processing plants in Missoula and Salt Lake City, and markets and sells a variety of processed pork items from signature honey cured bacon to applewood smoked bacon to naturally smoked hams to breakfast sausages.
Triumph Foods is owned by five member-owners who are pork producers. Seaboard Foods is an integrated food company, with farm operations and pork processing facilities. Together, Seaboard Foods and Triumph Foods have aligned their farm operations and pork processing, including genetics, pig nutrition, animal care, food safety and product quality, to ensure consistent, wholesome fresh pork.
