- Jason MillerMar-Jac Poultry is expanding in Alabama. That expansion includes the construction of a $25 million feed mill.
Mar-Jac Poultry LLC is investing $50 million it its operations in northwest Alabama, with about half of that investment being made in a new feed mill in the community of Spruce Pine in Franklin County.
The new feed mill is expected to initially create 30 more jobs, and will absorb another 20 jobs from a nearby facility.

The company is also embarking on a $7 million expansion project at its hatchery in Moulton. The hatchery expansion will add another 25 jobs to the community.
The Franklin County Commission in March granted tax abatements to Mar-Jac Poultry for the future feed mill. The abatements included a sales and use tax abatement for the purchase of materials to go toward the construction of the mill, and a 10-year property tax abatement, with the company still paying the education tax portion of property and sales taxes, the Times Daily reported.
Mar-Jac Holdings is the parent company to Mar-Jac Poultry LLC, which includes the company’s Alabama and Mississippi operations, and Mar-Jac Poultry Inc., which includes the company’s Georgia operations. The 17th largest broiler company in the United States, according to the WATT Global Media Top Companies Database, Mar-Jac Holdings processes 225.16 million chickens annually.
