To help keep the country free from avian influenza, Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture, Mapa, has released two electronic booklets covering the disease -- one aimed at poultry producers and one aimed at air passengers.
For producers, advice includes remaining vigilant for signs of bird flu, such as an increase in mortality, reduction in feed intake and alterations to walking. Travelers are advised to keep away from poultry farms for at least three weeks if they have been in a country affected by avian flu.
Telephone numbers are given should an outbreak of the disease be suspected.
