Government officials, CP Group livestock representatives, and representatives from the Yimeifeilin Ecological Development Group on March 18 signed an agreement to construct a facility to breed and raise 30,000 to 50,000 metric tons of poultry and livestock annually in Xinjiang, China.
The project also involves a grass feed processing plant, an organic bio-fertilizer plant, a livestock slaughter house, a forage trading center, a livestock and poultry trading center, an insulation materials factory, a storage and logistics center, and a modern agri-tourism center, according to a report provided by Smart Agriculture Analytics. The diversified livestock and poultry project will house 500,000 pigs, 300,000 laying hens, 5 million broiler chickens, 300,000 sheep, and 30,000 cattle.
The project is worth of a total of CNY7.535 billion (US$1.23 billion), with CNY6.275 billion in fixed assets and CNY1.25 billion in working capital.
CP Group, founded in 1921, is headquartered in Thailand. Its poultry, swine, and aquaculture businesses were formed through strategic partnerships with leading international livestock organizations over 30 years ago, according to the company’s website. The company breeds various species of livestock, operates farming systems, processes meat, and conducts mass food production in both commodity and value-added forms for both domestic and international consumption.
